Just saw a post on MMORPG.com (from my phone, site is blocked at work otherwise I would post direct link) that Tarquinas will be one of 12 servers being closed on October 15, at 4:40 PM. Goodbye old friend.

so it's gone? I mean, I'm not too surprised, last time i went on in the summer there were like 10 people on the server.. But still, it's kinda sad..

For what it's worth....
Because of Sony's systems getting hacked.....everyone gets 45 days of free gametime.
For sh*ts and giggles I downloaded SWG and logged in. Our characters are still there.....just naked and inaccessible. According to their website, all you have to do is submit a ticket asking for a transfer...which they will do for free. I just submitted mine...so we shall see. I'll let you know what is and what isn't included.
I know many of you don't care due to what SOE/LucasArts did....but because it's free I got curious. I'm anxious to try out the Battle for Hoth.
Oh well. Miss you all. Hope everyone is doing well.

Which server did u go to? If it really is free for a bit, I might try to log on and transfer too.
Also, how did u actually submit ur ticket? All I saw them saying was that you'd be charged the regular transfer fee of $50.

Damn...the SWG community is still the friendliest I've encountered...
So I logged in on my toons that were on Bria and Starsider and people are so nice...I miss that :/
FYI, there's a lot of Tarqs on Starsider. I saw someone in the Mos Eisley. They tipped me 10k to fly to Lok because that's where New Tarq is located and also guilded me haha.
Good times...now, time to see if I can transfer at least 2 toons there.

So, they're not allowing anyone to transfer to Starsider eventhough you can make a new toon there. SOOOO, I'm gonna try to transfer to the next heavy server, Chilastra.

Oops. Been away for a week and just saw your questions. Hope you are all set now. Yeah, I transferred to Eclipse because I had an old toon there as well. Wish I had chosen something else because Eclipse is a little quiet. I created a toon on Starsider and that seems to have lots of people. For anyone that is interested, here are the details: (nice Returning Players Guide someone put together) forums.station.sony.com/swg/posts/list.m?topic_id=1192911Eli, not sure if you have your toon back yet....but I pretty much had all my stuff...including money. I was shocked, as I figured the account would be bone dry for paying housing maintenance...but it was there....including my houses all packed up in a deed. As for an opinion, they have indeed put in quite a bit of stuff (Battle of Hoth, Deathtroopers quest line)....added talent trees among other things. BUT.....the combat is still NGE. UGH. I will say it has been really nice cruising around and visiting old stuff. Seeing sand storms kicking up over Mos Eisley. Good times. It's kinda funny.....and perhaps it is because I've been away so long....but as simple as the NGE combat is.......everything else seems to be confusing as hell. Radial menus....having to drag and drop items in your inventory onto the quest giver....specific item details not immediately displayed on the Bazaar. But, the nostalgia has been nice with the muisc and all. And since it is free....no harm no foul.

Hey D,
Yea, they transfered Eliowyn to Chilastra. I wanted to go somewhere that was heavy. I'm going to have my other 80s transfered to flurry and Bria (Bria, just because I have a lower lvl toon there). I pulled out my lightsaber and killed some womprats...fun fun lol.
I have a toon on Starsider too...Named Rookite. PM me up if ur on. Eliowyn is still named that on Chilastra, if you wanted to check out that server. The good thing about it is now you can transfer freely every 3 months I think.
And yes, things are so confusing...They seemed to have put in ALOT of stuff. I'm not even sure how the GCW works now.

I had just read the '8 year birthday' article on Massively and was thinking about reactivating with the 45 days and then learned it was all getting shut down in December. I refused to log back in to SWG in the last couple years no matter how much I missed my SW MMO. I always wonder what would have happened if they had just left the classes alone (not removed any) and just added the new content, quests and play style. I wonder if I even would have left SWG.
Blah.
Are all of you planning on picking up SWTOR if it ever gets released?

Hey Gil! Long time no see. Hope you are doing well. I am most DEFINITELY picking up SWTOR when it comes out. I 'm so excited about it I can't see straight. I've been waiting for some of the folks around here who got into beta to provide feedback...*cough* Ros/Corna *cough* I've been getting ready to post a new topic on here about getting people together to form a guild. Lots of guests frequent each day...so I'm hoping those are old RSE'ers checking in. On the swtor site, you can actually set up your guild and have people join. Once the game goes live, they transfer all that stuff automatically over. Unfortunately, it is similar to WoW..in that the two factions can't guild together as it is in SWG. Boo. I have a feeling that some people will very strongly want to be Empire or Republic....so we may not all get a chance to be back together so to speak. But we can all be on the same server, tho right? As far as I'm concerned...I don't really care either way. I thought the Sith Inquistor looked awesome......until I saw that so did almost everyone else. LOL Either or....as long as I can play with some of you all, I don't care which side we're on. Anyhow....some of the parameters you must set when you set up a guild beforehand include: 1. Empire or Republic 2. Server location (east coast, west coast, etc) 3. PVP or PVE (or PVERP...I think) I'll post another topic soon, hoping to elicit some feedback from everyone. EDIT: Here's the link to set up or search for a guild on SWTOR. cdn-www.swtor.com/guilds

Yea, it's kinda stupid how you can't be a BH but still be in the republic..They should allow those classes that aren't technically defined to allow the player to choose sides at the character creation.

Well....my 45 days of free play are up. I don't think I'll be resubscribing. It was fun playing around during my free time though.

Ya, I actually setup a guild pretty much right away when they were offered. I kind of forgot about these forums so I didn't say anything.
I know they won't allow people to make cross-faction guilds, but at least they will allow you to talk to one another face-to-face in game. Can't do any cross-faction whispers/tells but at least face to face talking.
The guild I have setup now is Republic with just a couple people called Kinsmen (setup in the Eastern Time Zone). Mostly people I've kept in touch with through WoW. Deroga and Challoa are in it along with one other guy in my WoW guild. There is a companion guild on the Sith side setup by some other people that I know through WoW, but none of which seem to play WoW anymore...they are mostly old SWG->WoW converts that have since quit WoW and are waiting for this. That guild is called 'Kindred'.
If both guilds get at least 4 members to pre-order the game and sign up on the website (i.e., make accounts, join the guild, link the pre-order code to their accounts), the guild will get to assign itself ally/foe guilds and get put together on the same server when the servers are launched.
Other than that, things are going well. I'm still playing WoW because...well until this comes out, I haven't seen anything else I liked very much.
