Hey guys, long time no chat, nice to see ya'll are still well and alive I honestly dont know if I will get this game... my mind isn't 100% set but I'm sort of in the "not" category. From what IVE SEEN. This game looks nothing like SWG of old, and a bit more like WoW with a different skin. MMOs these days I just see them all trying to copy+paste the success formula of WoW and not really be out on their own. I mean there are what like 8 classes with like 2-3 skill trees for each? (Reminds me of WoW) And the professions are sort of locked to faction, again like WoW. I want my player cities and freedom back, not something else that sort of paralells a WoW experience. No offense to that game, which I played a metric ton for a year, but it didn't have any sense of community or belonging like SWG did. I was a 24/7 End-Game Raider to get the best loot in WoW, 7 days a week, I don't ever want to go back to that lol. In the end it felt like a second job more than a game. I also don't like the emphasis they are placing on story. I've never seen it work in an MMORPG because simply putting PEOPLE into an MMO setting people tend to act out as themselves, not as their avatars... the immersion of story breaks. My quips with the game I guess.... the only thing that really grabs me is playing with ya'll again. That does get my blood pumpin. PS: Gil, is Kinsmen the WoW guild from Kael'Thas? lol I seem to remember that guild, jesus its been like 6 years.

Yep, I just used the WoW guild name since the majority of people I've talked about playing SWTOR are people in there with me...and yes, it is still up and running and doing the 25 man raids. Think we're the only guild left on Kael'thas focused on 25 man raids actually. Everyone else went to 10 man.
I don't intend to play SWTOR like I played WoW. I have no intention of playing every night from 8-midnight and all day on the weekend to get to max level then just log in 8-12 for 3 or 4 nights a week to go to a raid. Yes, I'll want to run the dungeons and the end-game raids (I think I read that they are 4 man dungeons and 8 player raids) because I want to see the game's full story, not just play for the loot.
That said, that's why I hope you are wrong about the story. That's why I want the game. There will be a story to play through so hopefully more people will be invested in their characters.
I still like WoW. If SWTOR just becomes WoW in a SW universe, I'm still going to be happy. I wish they would combine SWG and its sandbox elements with SWTOR and its story, gameplay and themepark elements, but that's not going to happen.
I'm just happy its SW and I'll be playing it.

100% Agree with Gil. That's why I want the game too....and it is Star Wars. And....absolutely NO DISRESPECT intended....but I grow weary of the "it looks just like WoW" argument. So what? As a good business practice...you take a successful product and a build upon it. People seem to forget WoW took a ton of ideas from Everquest...and improved upon it a great deal. If SWTOR can do the same thing....I'm a very happy camper. People keep talking about a WoW-killer. Not me. I don't give 2 sh*ts if it only has 100k subscribers....if the game is good and I enjoy it, that's all that matters to me. Oh...and to play with you all again of course.

All that said, I broke down last night at the 11th hour and activated SWG for the final 3 months ($15 for 3 months isn't exactly breaking the bank).
I wonder if I'll log in more than 1 time before it annoys me and I log out again.

Well sadly that didn't go as expected. Apparently I managed to activate an old trial account with no characters on it rather than the one I intended to activate....and so I'd have to start as a level 1 character for the last 3 months. Somehow I don't see myself doing that.

I heard about this recently. So sad! Just logged onto here for the first time in years to say I miss you guys. Playing SWG with you all was some of the best times I've ever had online. I might check out the new game if I have some extra cash, but I doubt any game will compare to the enjoyment I got from playing this game with this group of people.
