With Chall's resignation questions like "Who will be Mayor next?" and "What does this mean for the city?" have probably come to the minds of many.
It seems to me that this would be a great opportunity for us to get to know each other better and become a closer knitted community.
I see that two people have already registered for the Mayoral Race. I had hoped to see more by this time. Come on people, I know there's got to be more out there who would be a great Mayor!
Spindle and I spoke briefly about me running for the position, but, much as I would like to, I don't think I'd have the time to give the community what it deserves. One of the things Spin and I talked about was having some kind of platforming and/or debating so the citizens of RSC can get to know the candidates before voting. I know there's a lot of new people in town - me included - that would greatly benefit from something like this.
What do ya'll think?

Just gonna throw my 2 cents in here..
Debating has always seemed silly in this game. The city needs to be in the hands of someone who truly cares for it. Someone who's got strong ties to the community, who has grown with the city, someone who wants to see it prosper. I think its obvious who should be taking over.

Ok, when I was talking to ythai about the debate idea, it was suppose to be more of a possible ongoing RP city event. (At least that's what I was thinking.) Only to try and get people to come to the city more often. I do agree with steth that there really aren't any issues which tends to cause a problem with debates. But, any event ideas will be generously accepted.

There are a LOT of new people in the city and not everyone knows the one you think should be the next mayor. Or as Cersk pointed out we may know the person but don't realize it's the one you are talking about. If more than one person runs we need to know about them all so we can make an informed vote, not just a vote based on what others say. And I wouldn't want someone to take the job just because they felt the had to, but rather because they wanted to.

.....back on topic....yeah I say the person who makes a case for REALLY wanting to work with the guild leadership to make RSE and RSC one of the best places on the server, deserves to win and I would vote for him/her.
And corna...enough with the WoW comparisons. It may be trendy but I played it and it is really not a whole lot better than any other MMO. Part of the reason people flock to it is the impression that its the only one worth focking to. WoW is 50% hype. If you really want a comparison between WoW and SWG, I'll give you a laundry list of all the things that suck about WoW than don't with SWG.
