I had planned to implement our city tax system when our big changes came to our city. This is a good and easy way to help support our city without relying on donors (if interested in what the taxes are please refer to The Cloning Facility & City Taxes post).
Another great way to support our city without using the tax system would be to hold a monthly charity hunt. This would allow more decorations and a cloning facility to be set down in our city. The one downfall of this is that not all citizens would be helping to support the city. It would definitely bring in more revenue than taxes would.
Heres the financial breakdown:
Tax System will bring in anywhere from 100k - 200k per month. This varies on the citizen count.
Charity Hunt:
9500 per mission @ 8 group members = 76k 76k x 16 missions (2 missions per person) = 1.2 mil.
This is of course assuming that there are no bugged missions as we would only do 1 run.
PLEASE VOTE ON THIS ISSUE! And please remind anyone you see in guild chat to stop by the boards and vote. This is a decision that affects every single citizen of RSC!

I think Charity hunts would be excellent, what a great idea! It certainly looks like that would bring in more revenue then the city taxes. Only drawback I could see is from an organization standpoint. (i.e. people live in different time zones, work different hours, etc.) I would want to make sure I contributed just as much as everyone else. Maybe we could work on a list of when the best times for everyone would be? Just a thought. Well done Chal! Cheers!

Thanks Dailon And yes, we would definitely set up a time that is best for the majority. And we would work with those who are on at odd times.

Well, your tax proposals seem to be quite high... The shuttle price makes me wince.
It may be a good idea to start all the taxes much lower, until our city becomes more of a tourist attraction. Then you can boost up the shuttle price a bit.
Even as a future vendor in the city, I would even support a minor sales tax, of say... 1%. As soon as I can place another merchant tent, I will be setting up vendors that will bring some tourists in.
I realize that you want the numbers to balance out right away, but if taxes are set too high it may drive people away, or stop them from using said services. I for one would rather take the trip from Kor Vella rather than pay a 300+ credit shuttle ticket. (Minimum price for a ticket is 100 credits, with no city tax)
Charity hunts are also a great way to help offset the city revenue, or even increase the coffers of the city for a rainy day. This is a wonderful idea that I would not have come up with. Such donations are nice, but we must not grow dependent upon them.

Well I'm glad that you brought up the shuttle price. When I set that price I was thinking it might be a little high. And so far the votes are leaning towards the charity hunts, but I am planning to keep city taxes in place.
Since charity hunts will be bringing in a large amount of income for the city, I'm planning to set taxes at a minimum. For example:
Property tax - 1 credit Income tax - $75 credits per week Travel fee - $125 credits Sales tax - STILL BROKEN but they are getting it fixed. This tax will be discussed when it comes time to implement it.
I will be proposing this at the guild meeting tonight.

Charity Hunt went well. I know I made and donated 120k last nite and was only playing for 2 hours, and we had a lot more than 10 people on so we should have a good base to feed off of for the month.
I would also like to say that the members of the group I was in did very well at focusing on one target at a time and not letting the weaker combat members take many hits (aside from my rogue Area Attack that got Asron beat down... Sorry bout that, lol) I look forward to more group events since thats the heart of the game for me is team play.

One thing that may be a possibility for some whom may not be able to make the regularly scheduled hunt would be to have an alternate time scheduled. And then for those that can't make those times, or there's not enough in alternate sched party, maybe they could just earmark a group hunt they go on first opportunity they have after the scheduled hunt as being for City support, that way everyone can contribute. I would concur with keeping taxes at an absolute minimum. We want to draw people in, not give them an excuse to go somewhere else.

I'd like to concur with Ixoir. The time of the last one was a little difficult, and I had to leave early. Why not pick a few different dates and times instead of just one? We'd likely get better turn outs, and thus more money for the city.

Ixoir and Dailon have the right idea. I know we can get hunts together late at night, for about three weeks straight we had hunts during the late evening, each evening. We can work some alternate time schedules out. Most nights work for me, barring unforeseen events. What works for you all?

In order to gain exp like most pilots I will do the search and destroy duty missions. Do them long enough and you start to rack up MAJOR coinage. I would suggest to thos who have no ground combat skills like me to take some S&D missions in space and pick a time when all the money you make will go to RSC. Just a thought but I am going to try to do that every so often.

So what happened to the Charity Hunts? I haven't heard nor seen anythig about it in game and I'm really not liking this 5% tax for a city that isn't using maintainence right now...

We still pay taxes?? hmmm. . . .But the reason for the lack of charity hunts has been due to the lack of maintenance.
